Workshop scope

The 3rd International Workshop on B Factories and New Measurements (BNM2008) will be held in Atami, Japan from 24th through 26th of January 2008. The goal of the workshop will be similar to the previous workshops;

  • To identify and document new measurements that can be carried out at existing B factories as well as at a Super B Factory.
  • To update the physics studies at the Super B Factory based on the latest experimental results and techniques as well as new theoretical ideas and developments.
We also include discussions on the Super-Belle design optimization, and accommodate several contributed talks from both theory and experiments. Detailed information can be found at the workshop website; http://superb.kek.jp/bnm2008/index.html.

Workshop site

The workshop will be held at the New Fujiya Hotel in Atami, Shizuoka pref., Japan (http://www.itoenhotel.com/hotel/new_fujiya/, the hotel web page is only in Japanese). Participants are strongly encouraged to stay in this hotel.

Atami is a traditional resort with hot springs nearby sea shore, about 100km west from Tokyo (about 40min. Shinkansen ride). You can enjoy and relax yourself in hot springs before/after the sessions.


Registration and Accommodation

All Participants are requested to register via the registration page.

Submission of contributed talks can be made from the same web page.

Block reservations have been made at the New Fujiya Hotel for the nights of 24th and 25th of January. Some rooms are available also for the nights of 23rd and 26th for those who like to stay before and/or after the workshop. Some room types are available (at the same rate/person);

  • Japanese style tatami room (shared)
  • Western style room with a single bed
  • Western style room with two beds
  • Family room (two beds + tatami)
Request for room reservation can be made from the registration page. Please indicate your check-in/out dates and preference for the room type. Since the number of available rooms for each type is limited, we cannot always satisfy your request.

The registration fee is 10,000yen/person.
The accommodation fee, including dinner and breakfast, is;

  • 10,950yen for January 24th
  • 11,950yen for January 25th
  • 9,950yen for January 23rd and 26th (dinner in buffet style)
Please pay the registration fee and accommodation fee at the registration desk. Please note that we can accept CASH (Japanese YEN) ONLY! We cannot accept credit card, check etc.


Program

The first session will start at 13:00 on Thursday , January 24, and the last session of the workshop will end by 16:00 on Saturday, January 26. The program consists of invited and contributed talks in the plenary sessions. We plan to have parallel sessions (experiment/theory sessions) in the afternoon of Friday, January 25.


Transportation

Our recommending airport is "Narita", which is also called as "Tokyo International airport", but it is not located in the big city, Tokyo. It is an hour train distance. The workshop site, Atami, is west of Tokyo and it takes another an hour.

From the Narita airport to the Tokyo station
Take a train "Narita Express" from the Narita Airport to Tokyo Station. It runs every an hour and 30 min. at peak times.

You can buy a train ticket to your final destination, Atami at the JR ticket counter. The "Shinkansen" ticket from Tokyo station can be also issued, there.

From the Tokyo station to the Atami station
Use the "Shinkansen" (Super Express Train "Kodama", 50 min. ride). If you don't have "Shinkansen" ticket yet, you can buy here, Shinkansen floor, too. If you get language trouble, you can also see English on vending machines.

From the Atami station to the New Fujiya Hotel
The hotel is about 1km from the station and it's 10 min. on foot. There is a free Hotel shuttle service for those whom arriving on 24th / leaving on 26th. You can also take a taxi at a cost of 650yen.


Visa

If you need an entry visa to Japan, please apply at your closest Japanese Embassy or Consulate well ahead of the workshop. You can find more information about entry visa at; http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html


Weather

In Japan, it is rather cold in January. The temperature varies from 2 to 10 degrees in Atami area. We suggest you to bring warm sweater and coat.


Internet

Internet access is very limited in the hotel. There will be wireless LAN spot in the lobby, but No Wireless LAN will be available in the conference room nor in guest rooms.
